Q. Do I need a lawyer to assist with my immigration case?
Answer: Most things in life are not complex and therefore do not require expert knowledge. However, when dealing with unfamiliar legal matters, such as immigration laws, it is recommended that you at least consult a lawyer to know your options.
Q. Is a notary a lawyer?
Answer: In the United States, a notary is not a lawyer and should not be consulted or engaged concerning any legal matter.
Q. I am an alien with a criminal case, what should I do?
Answer: Anyone with a pending criminal case or the threat of criminal prosecution should get a lawyer, either court appointed or retained. However, it presents a very unique case if the criminal defendant is also an alien (illegal or lawful permanent resident), and therefore, it is recommended that the criminal alien, if financially able, retain the services of a criminal defense attorney and immigration attorney.
